Dick is the Assistant Director of the Office of Business Development.
Dick has been the lone business development person developing and trying
out various programs, (Business Commercialization Advisory Board, CEO Data
Base, Resource Database and Network, Investment Community Workshop Series,
Technology Transfer Advisory Boards, Investor Relations programs, The Midwest
Research University Network, and The Business Gateway into the University).
He has over 38 years of experience in commercialization of new businesses.
His broad industry experience covers shipping containers, employee assistance
programs, computer based education, semiconductors, electronic publishing,
software development, printed circuits, technology transfer, continuing
medical education, Medical Clinics, and business services. His experience
includes holding positions as CEO, COO, and VP of sales, marketing, &
business development in various companies. He has managed turn-a-rounds,
start up companies, acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures. Dick's extensive
network and relationships in highly diverse industries allow him to help
the faculty members start companies and increase the commercialization of
technology at the University of Minnesota.
