John has been providing financial and business advisory services to small and mid-sized businesses since 1991, assisting client companies in both high growth and turnaround situations. Prior to founding MCP he was a Managing Director with Corporate Investment Partners, Inc. a New York based investment banking firm, and with the private investment firm Lineberger & Co. He has also served as Vice Chairman of PIA Merchandising Co., Chairman of the Management Committee of River City Plastics, Inc., and Chief Financial Officer of The Marketing Partnership. Earlier still he established a merchant banking unit at Copenhagen Handelsbank, New York that provided over $70MM of equity and mezzanine capital to middle market companies. John began his career as a corporate banker at Irving Trust Company.

John has spoken on various aspects of entrepreneurship for Maryland Technology Development Corporation; Baltimore City Community College, 270 Tech, Inc.; and The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce. He is a volunteer advisor for the ACTiVATE women’s entrepreneurship program at University of Maryland Baltimore County, the Entrepreneurial Opportunity Center at University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business, and the Greater Baltimore Technology Council Mosh Pit business plan competition, and he is an adjunct professor of Finance at the University Of Baltimore Merrick School Of Business.

John holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia University and a BA in History and Political Science from Colgate University.
